PIMS Philosophy

The most important objective of any pipeline operator is the preservation of the licence to operate a safe and reliable pipeline system. The philosophy of the PIMS is intended to help pipeline operators to achieve this goal. Without the correct information or tools to process information, a company cannot make sound strategic decisions based on the state of any part of its pipeline network. Whether this comes down to designing maintenance schemes and inspection strategies, or demonstrating the safety and integrity of the grid, IT systems form a vital part of the overall management of the network to provide auditable results.
