To complement its services, PIMS International B.V. developed a software application to help our customers manage their pipeline integrity data. Our software provides vital information at the right time for the business-critical decisions of designing maintenance programmes, inspection strategies, investment for repairs or replacements, and demonstrating the safety and integrity of the pipeline.

Our software tools are cross-platform and based on client-server architecture, supporting multiple users of the graphical interface tools and integration into existing computing environments. The foundation is Bowstar GIS View, our data browser and management tooI. Additional modules can extend the functionality of the PIMS and we continue to develop and extend the software suite. Custom components, to interface with other software systems, can also be developed to meet the specific needs of our customers.

Dynamic segmentation of linear assets

The risk model that has been developed with Bowstar is transferred to the GIS-environment. The algorithms of the GIS-risk module subsequently processes the local threats and mitigations on the basis of the pipeline- and environmental components that have been stored in the database. Communication between the different modules of Bowstar GIS (risk, defect assessment etc) and the GIS-environment is full interactive i.e. the selection of a specific object results in a summary of all object details incl. a view of the geographic  position of that object in the GIS-view:

The dynamic ranking of threat level along the pipeline route (right view, bottom) enables the focus on the specific pipeline objects (right view, van top to bottom) that are responsible for the local threat increase.
